I am Sarah, the “brown eyed girl” behind Brown Eyed Photography. face behind the camera. You might see me climbing on a chair for that unique angle on a special moment, or clicking away and holding a conversation – about how you two met, what being a new parent is like, or what your plans after graduation are. I’ll most likely be sporting a smile (but you might not see it behind the camera!), striving to make your photography experience as fun, comfortable, and worry free as possible. (That’s right! Having pictures taken can be fun!)
I am passionate about photography, family, and living simply. The latter is a more recent interest, but family and photography have been part of my world for a while. A hobby since high school, as a journalism major in college I was able to take it a step further, as a photographer and photo-editor for our online magazine. The photojournalistic approach I used and developed then is something I still bring to my photography now, both weddings and lifestyle portraits. I love being able to include candid and spontaneous pictures along with those posed.
I have to admit, there is a pair of blue eyes involved too. My husband Josh (in order to procrastinate on his graduate school work) joins me behind the camera at weddings, and helps with the editing, ordering, and the website. Worry not, for the brown eyes still outnumber the blue 3-to-1, thanks to our (almost) 4 year old son Noah and 2 year old Del. They deprive us of sleep, intervene in our work, make messes faster than we can clean, and, oh yes, provide us with so much fun, awe, and love. It’s no accident that many of us get more serious with our photography when kids enter our life!
I am currently based in Rhode Island, but make frequent trips to visit family in Vermont, and squeeze in a little photography as well.
