Putting this together made my heart go all soft inside. We’re so appreciative to all of you for a spectacular year! A lot of changes coming in the next year with our transition to Vermont and we’re excited about all that it will bring – getting to know you all better and forming new friendships in our new home state!
Thanks for a great year! Looking forward to capturing more memories with you in 2011!

The boys from Nairobi are seven months old!!

Karen and Jerry are back stateside – for a few weeks for the holidays. I was thrilled to be a priority in their schedule and to figure out a time to get together and get some pictures of the adorable Micah and Malik who have grown oh.so.much!
And here’s a fun bonus: Jerry had never seen snow! This isn’t really crazy when you’re from Africa but it seemed crazy to this New Englander. It was then pointed out that it’s just as crazy to him that I’d be amazed to see a zebra on the side of the road. So we tr3ked outside where we tried to convince Jerry that snow was fun. He didn’t seem convinced. We told him kids love snow and run out and play in it for hours on end. I don’t think he believed us. He said it was too cold and seemed shocked that people would choose to go out in the snow – never mind play in it!! After all, how could you possibly play in the cold?!?! Karen showed him a snow angel. Still not convinced.

And if anyone comments on the Brown Eyed Photography website they always mention Jerry with the twins when they were one month old – you know? That picture with this guy holding two babies with his back to the camera? So we recreated that – here are the two side by side:

They were a little trickier to wrangle but their enthusiasm made it all worth it

Nine days until Christmas?!?!

I just dropped off holiday cards for one of the families who had a mini session Benefit St in Providence earlier this month. These twin seven month olds were just as laid back as they were as newborns! I guess with parents like Mike and Amanda the odds were in their favor Couldn’t resist sharing some from their latest ~~cold~~ wintery session.

Announcement 1: In Spring 2011 Brown Eyed Photography is moving to Northern Vermont! We’re very excited. We’re moving to the family farm and I’ve been having so much fun discovering endless opportunities for portrait shoots at the farm.
There will be a transition period over the next year and we’re very much looking forward to our Vermont weddings AND our Southern New England weddings next year!

Announcement 2: Speaking of Vermont weddings: we’ve picked the “winners” for the free Vermont wedding we were offering. So fun reading the responses!
On July 9, 2011 we will be shooting Arik and Mike’s wedding and reception aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen on Lake Champlain! These two are pretty amazing. We are excited to work with them and I’m sure their 5,782* friends and family members will be excited too! We received overwhelming response about these two. We said that it didn’t matter how many nominations each couple got, but we didn’t count on one couple being nominated by sooo many people! Each note featuring Arik and Mike gave us a better picture of just how wonderful these men are.

We read things like:

“The two of them together are absolutely hilarious, and I can’t imagine them not together, ever. Both of them would give the shirt of their back to help a friend in need, and anyone else for that matter…”

pause: Cape Cod, MA

We slipped away right after Shaye and Sal’s maternity session for a week where summer and fall met and we had a moment to catch our breath before coming back for Lesley and Alistair‘s wedding where America and England met – more on that later!
It was so nice to go back to the same place we were last year when we stayed at the Cape. And even with kids in tow there were moments – several in fact – to pause, take a breath, and just be.

I think the kids had their moments too – but mostly they were on the go. Lots to do to prepare the perfect “flying race car” complete with seaweed horn in the steering wheel and superb comfort in the seat area thanks again to seaweed – oh and it is essential that all seaweed be wet. To achieve wet seaweed simply retrieve the greenery thrown into the water by your sister as she attempts to rid the beach of all seaweed left by the high tide.

Frankie is a familiar face around here from newborn a little over a year ago to his recent one year session. Frankie’s parents chose to invest in the first year package option and they are so pleased they did! They have large prints of Frankie from each session on their living room wall and Frankie’s mom, Sheba, was telling me how she and Frankie’s dad, John have marveled over the transformation Frankie has made from day one to day 365.
In addition to sessions throughout Frankie’s first year, John and Sheba also received a photobook containing images from every session. I dropped off the book (along with a fabulous Christmas gift for someone very special in Frankie’s life… but that’s all I’m saying!) this morning to Sheba (and smiley Frankie who was chowing down on breakfast). I love how their book turned out and wanted to show details – like the lay flat pages and the canvas cover – with you!

I was thrilled to discover that Erin’s family won the family session at Child’s Play silent auction last spring. Erin and Justin have an adorable 4 year old daughter who is full of life and an equally fun-loving 1 year old son. When Erin saw Sarah and Joe’s rainy session they fell in love with the colors of Prospect Park in Providence. We decided to skip the torrential rain part so postponed our session for a week – well worth it!

Baby Tatum was just 4 days old and she was so adept at holding her head up!

Baby Frankie is 1!!

Teeny baby Frankie has turned into a walking toddler! Hard to believe he’s one and his First Year photo sessions are wrapped up!! Sheba and John have taken to this parenting thing like a a bee to flowers. I’ve enjoyed watching the growing of Frankie over the last year but also of Sheba and John in their new role.

and a not so successful cake smash…. what’s up with these babies not being excited about cake?

Wow! Congrats Sheba and John (and the rest of your extended family!) for this milestone. He’s as adorable as ever and continues to amaze!

John McGonigle has been the most compassionate, respectful, and personable doctor since our first appointment with him when baby #2, as she was known then, was still floating in the not so room quarters of my uterus. It soon came out that this friendly doctor has a family with two boys who are a little bit older than our two. I then was told that Kate McGonigle had a blog. I was hooked.
The whole family is dynamite! In more ways than one Photographing them at their family beach home …. the beach home John has been going since childhood…
Yeah, that was dynamite too! Look for the action shots at the end. I was tempted to put in Kate’s “action” shot where she showed off some funky dance moves, but resisted because she had bathing-suit-self-conscious-issues. Yeah, I don’t understand why either.
