It has been an incredible year.
Thank you all for contributing to the fun, the creativity, and the success of this year for Brown Eyed Photography.
I’m excited about next year and everything that is planned from seniors to weddings to babies and everything in between.
But right now I’m just sitting in wonder at all that happened this year.

And as an end-of-year tribute to the friends and faces of Brown Eyed Photography, here’s a slideshow we put together highlighting all the great people I was able to work with in 2009. What a beautiful bunch they are!
Thanks again everyone, and see you in 2010!

Papyrus at the Providence Place Mall contacted Brown Eyed Photography about a month ago to see if they could have a large print of a family photograph to display in their window.
Wow!
Definitely doable!
So I roped in a family that had not yet picked a date so that I could attempt to get some more fall looking pictures.
(here is the blog entry with the pictures from that shoot.)
I went today to see the display:

Here’s the even better part:

You can enter to win a Brown Eyed Photography Portrait Session, $100 print credit AND from Papyrus: 10% off holiday boxed and custom printed cards.
I’m telling you so you can go enter and you can tell your friends so they can go enter… Good luck!

We made it to the beach today! It was a perfect day for it too. S and came with the whole family which added to the fun. Her sons loved looking for crabs…. and pretending to be crabs…. her husband, A might have liked the crab action more than the boys.
S and her family were so easy to hang out with. I love how in sync S and A are.
Don’t worry- it wasn’t all pictures. Notice one of the boys in his bathing suit down by the f.r.e.e.z.i.n.g cold ocean.
Thank you again S, for a fun afternoon. I can’t wait to meet baby 3.0.

S is expecting… and expecting this to be her last baby, so she wants some pictures to help her remember this pregnancy. S says she feels great and energized and the word on the street is that this momma is nesting like the baseboards do indeed require bleaching. She took a break from all her preparations to hang out in the woods on a warm but breezy day.

S said she wanted to do some nude shots in the woods… a challenge in RI where areas with dense forest (for needed privacy) are few and those that do exist are being enjoyed by numerous people at any given time. Thankfully a friend has a yard that includes several trees, a lake (maybe a pond?), and even a waterfall.

S says this baby is still breech but she and her midwife are not too worried yet. She’s going to look into
spinning babies, see
Chiropractor Kelly Frye, and see what happens. If anyone has any other suggestions I’m sure S is open to them.

And I didn’t tell the whole truth when I said S wanted pictures done in the woods… she’s also interested in some beach pictures! We decided to split the session into two parts as the “woods” were in one direction and the beach in the other direction. So stay tuned… those will be coming soon (unless the baby decides to make an early appearance).
Thanks so much S for a relaxing afternoon of picture taking and chatting. Can’t wait to meet you at the beach!

The lovely Sheramy is expecting her second baby very soon…
During the first part of our shoot baby #1 (who is now a little over 2) ran around playing while Sheramy watched.

After Simon had a quick milk break he fell asleep and Sheramy ventured outdoors with me.
It was f.r.e.e.z.i.n.g! but Sheramy was willing to walk through the highest snow bank if it meant getting the image I wanted.

I think Sheramy looks so peaceful in this image.
Thank you Sheramy for being up for anything. Looking forward to the birth!

Back in the summer when Joanna and I planned this maternity shoot I naively thought we could do the session outdoors. In August it’s hard to imagine how freezing it can be in January. Needless to say, plans were changed, and we had the session indoors instead. I love love how these images turned out.
I wanted her son to look at me but before giving him much instruction I noticed that he was looking at Joanna’s belly instead of me and decided to click the shutter to see if it would work. I ended up loving this image!
Isn’t Joanna’s henna belly so cool? I love the design. She and I both hope it’s still there for the birth.

Thank you again Joanna for a fun- if not slow shoot (due to some technical difficulties). Your patience was much appreciated. I’m so looking forward to the birth and meeting Poppy.

Courtney said she didn’t like having her picture taken but she wanted to have some maternity pictures done for the baby. She is very curious to see if this baby is a boy or a girl. I am too.
I loved Courtney’s smile. I’m excited to see Courtney with her new baby….
but no one could be as excited as her boyfriend, Will.
Thank you Courtney and Will for having me do your maternity session. It was fun to spend some time with you before the baby comes.

It’s getting colder and colder each day and that means Baby Cassidy will be here very soon! Fortunately it was still warm enough (although Brian might disagree) to get some outdoor belly shots. This couple is so excited about their new baby- it was start to rub off on me!
Brian and AJ had these adorable magnetic letters hung up on their oven hood and I thought they would be perfect to shoot. I thought perhaps we could find a better place than the oven hood for the picture. We asked Brian to come up with something while we worked on other pictures. His idea was a golf club. It was perfect… but the back yard fence ended up doing the job.
But really you came to see the belly, right? I love this portrait of AJ. She and Brian seem so prepared and confident in their pregnancy and birth choices. All they need to do now is wait for their baby to make its appearance…. oh and also figure out what to pack in their hospital bag.
Thank you both for letting me come to do this very fun maternity shoot. I can’t wait for you to see the pictures! They will be on their way as soon as possible.
