Catherine contacted me about a month ago to ask about a maternity session after she fell in love with her images from her last pregnancy. Since her last pregnancy we’ve moved … far away. But thankfully we have plenty of weddings booked in the RI area and I was happy to offer to come down to RI for a maternity session on a Sunday after a wedding in Southern MA. It was a thrill to see Catherine again and her daughter who is now 14mos old!

Merry Christmas

Putting this together made my heart go all soft inside. We’re so appreciative to all of you for a spectacular year! A lot of changes coming in the next year with our transition to Vermont and we’re excited about all that it will bring – getting to know you all better and forming new friendships in our new home state!
Thanks for a great year! Looking forward to capturing more memories with you in 2011!

Just Waiting

During our whirlwind Vermont weekend of Photography I met up with MaryKate and Kieran for their maternity session. MaryKate is pretty much the most unapologetically friendly person you’ll ever meet. She and Kieran were running late (they say this is normal for them) but MaryKate made sure to dash into the kitchen where I was waiting to give me a hug before dashing off to change clothes.
MaryKate and Kieran live in one of the oldest houses in town, with a beautiful garage painted a fabulous barn-red color. I was in heaven. And then (It gets better. I know. I couldn’t believe it either!) They asked if we could go to a nearby park that has an enormous tree (the guesstimated 300 years old) that they love. Ummm, YES! And it wasn’t just a tree – it was tall grass, grassy lanes, and wonderfully bent and textured trees.
Oh, and did I mention that MaryKate has dimples? Or that Kieran’s childhood home was Ireland and it still shows a little?

Falling a little bit more in love

I’ve been stalling in posting Terry and Randy’s blog post.
This is why: I couldn’t choose. It was so so hard.
Posting some to the fan page helps – it’s more room to post images of great people!
But I did it.
Made the choice.

Terry and Randy recently moved to RI and they are expecting their first baby. We talked about that (I could relate we did the same thing with our first baby!) and filled their memories to capacity with recommendations for various resources in the state. Love being able to pass along what I’ve learned about RI and the surrounding areas for the last 5 years.

Can’t wait to see you all (including Christian!!) in a few weeks.

The not so secret announcement x’s 2

Announcement 1: In Spring 2011 Brown Eyed Photography is moving to Northern Vermont! We’re very excited. We’re moving to the family farm and I’ve been having so much fun discovering endless opportunities for portrait shoots at the farm.
There will be a transition period over the next year and we’re very much looking forward to our Vermont weddings AND our Southern New England weddings next year!

Announcement 2: Speaking of Vermont weddings: we’ve picked the “winners” for the free Vermont wedding we were offering. So fun reading the responses!
On July 9, 2011 we will be shooting Arik and Mike’s wedding and reception aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen on Lake Champlain! These two are pretty amazing. We are excited to work with them and I’m sure their 5,782* friends and family members will be excited too! We received overwhelming response about these two. We said that it didn’t matter how many nominations each couple got, but we didn’t count on one couple being nominated by sooo many people! Each note featuring Arik and Mike gave us a better picture of just how wonderful these men are.

We read things like:

Shaye and Sal at home with a belly

I had so much fun hanging out with Sal and Shaye! These parents (to-be? but aren’t they already parenting?) were so friendly and welcoming. Shaye had several ideas that rocked her cute belly filled maternity session and their home was a beautiful personal backdrop for all of the fun!

I can’t wait to meet the Shaye/Sal baby mix! Sunflowers and bricks are definite repeat possibilities but with baby included. I can’t wait to see you both in about a month

Maternity Photography at Goddard State Park

Tricia and Paul met up with me on a drizzly (but thankfully not pouring) weather for their maternity session. Both of them are so laid back – Paul said his dad always says that even if the house was on fire Paul would amble out. I can’t imagine the transition to parenthood is going to change that

Can’t wait to see you both again – or all three of you – for your newborn session!

Brie and I went back and forth a couple times over email before figuring out a time we could meet for her maternity session. In the end we met after the all important due date at Slater Park for a relaxing session. I’m glad we had the session when we did. A little birdy told me that Brie and Jeff have met their new baby. I can’t wait for the new baby’s newborn session!
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves…. first Brie and Jeff in their gentle ways waiting patiently for the baby to decide that the time has come:
