Amanda and Mike planned their wedding in a week and a half and it was perfect!
Bride and groom looked amazing, their home (yes, they even hosted their wedding at home!) was welcoming, and those that could attend were so completely supportive of these two.
I could go on for days about how comfortable Mike and Amanda are with each other and how hospitable they are. But really, it’s about pictures, not about hearing how great the bride and groom are, right? You can just see for yourself….

Congratulations, Amanda and Mike!

Heidi and I went to St. Mike’s together and apparently our time at St. Mike’s overlapped with Brian… I don’t remember him, I was a senior, he was a freshman. He does remember my husband’s huge proposal that included a very large piece of campus… but that’s another story.

Heidi also doesn’t remember Brian BUT she does have a picture of her friend at a party standing next to some random guy… that’s right, it’s Brian. She met him after she graduated… and now wedding bells will be ringing at the St. Mike’s chapel in August!
First comes love, then comes the e-session, the comes marriage…, right?
Brian and Heidi make the 1.5 drive up to Enosburg, Vermont for their snowy e-session. Fun, but cold.

They want their wedding to say “Vermont”- I think we got it in the e-session. Can’t wait to incorporate their love for Vermont in their wedding pictures.

I’ve been wanting to do a snow session since… well, probably when I was hot hot in July. Thank you both for braving the cold for your e-session!

Thank You

December 24th, 2009

It has been an incredible year.
Thank you all for contributing to the fun, the creativity, and the success of this year for Brown Eyed Photography.
I’m excited about next year and everything that is planned from seniors to weddings to babies and everything in between.
But right now I’m just sitting in wonder at all that happened this year.

And as an end-of-year tribute to the friends and faces of Brown Eyed Photography, here’s a slideshow we put together highlighting all the great people I was able to work with in 2009. What a beautiful bunch they are!

Thanks again everyone, and see you in 2010!

Ali explained, when she called that she is not photogenic and was really hesitant about her wedding being photographed. I quickly realized at Ali and Russell’s engagement session that while Ali is smart, confident, and engaging- she is way off on her assessment of how photogenic she is. At their wedding one of the girls getting ready with Ali in the bridal suite said: “You can’t take a bad photo of Ali” so I’m definitely not alone in my opinion that Ali most definitely IS photogenic.
Russell is sweet and caring and so completely all about Ali. It was an honor to see these two pledge to share their lives with each other.

Look at the bottom right hand picture. I overheard someone behind me say: “Grandma is going to be so tired but she’s having so much fun!” This woman had all the moves and was a much better dancer than I could ever hope to be!

Ali and Russell told me that the cookies were part of an Italian tradition. The couple brings around this huge pile o’ cookies to share with their guests. The cookies were so yummy! I think this is a tradition that should be part of every wedding!

It was very fun getting to hang out with this warm and thoughtful family.
Congratulations Ali and Russell!

Kristine and Barry are two of the most easy-going couples I’ve ever met. They had an incredible wedding that took place at the yummy 1149 Restaurant in Warwick, RI.

These two planned to see each other before their ceremony. It was definitely the right choice for them- they both visibly relaxed when they finally saw their best friend.

Kristine and Barry had a very sweet ceremony with all their guests surrounding them as a show of support. I knew Kristine was feeling a little nervous when after she gave Barry his ring and the JP said: “Kristine, I give you this ring” and Kristine dutifully repeated: “Kristine, I give you this ring…” The JP advised Barry get used to this:) Hearty laughs all around!

Kristine is an art teacher and her creativity definitely shined in the details:

Family Photographer in Rhode Island

Papyrus at the Providence Place Mall contacted Brown Eyed Photography about a month ago to see if they could have a large print of a family photograph to display in their window.
Wow!
Definitely doable!
So I roped in a family that had not yet picked a date so that I could attempt to get some more fall looking pictures.
(here is the blog entry with the pictures from that shoot.)
I went today to see the display:

Desiree and Josh tied the knot…

September 24th, 2009

… in Ireland. Then invited friends over for a super low key celebration that included yummy food, finding the biggest toad ever- yes, toad, and a bonfire that was too big for the fire pit. It was a very relaxing afternoon and a wonderful excuse to hang out with Dez and Josh at their fabulous place in Waterbury, Vermont.

The bonfire has started small….

… but crates were added (Desiree had plans for the crates that didn’t include flames but she was okay giving them up for the cause of a bigger fire for the cold guests).

The crates did the trick- everyone was feeling the heat soon after the crates caught fire.

Thank you Dez and Josh for including us in your celebration. Big big congrats on tying the knot.

Alison and Russell in Boston

September 8th, 2009

Alison and Russell suggested the arboretum in Jamaica Plain for their engagement photo session. The place is a.m.a.z.i.n.g- and we went at the end of the summer- I bet it’s going to be even better when the fall colors come out, not to mention the blooms in the spring! Definitely a place I’m going back to- and we didn’t even cover half of it!
Alison and Russell are super funny together. Alison is thoughtful and straightforward- Russell is “never serious” (direct quote from Alison). The two of them together- compliment each other wonderfully.

Oh yes- and there’s a dog- Poncho. He might be only slightly less important than Russell:)

Wedding Vendors I am loving

September 2nd, 2009

I’m enjoying getting to know various vendors at these incredible weddings I have the honor of being a part of.

Recently two vendors in particular have caught my eye. The first is Perwinkle Paperworks. Kristine, who is behind Perwinkle Paperworks kindly sent me an invitation to her wedding (a little more than a month away!) and the invite was stunning. I couldn’t resist pulling out the camera and getting some shots.

Beautiful Invites from Perwinkle Paperworks

The other vendor I recently discovered is Tiffany, a very talented cake maker. Her cake was stunning- the details, I was super impressed! And then… when it was time to have a piece of cake – oh my! It got even better. It was beyond delicious. Yum. Yum.

Detailed and Delicious!

Hope that helps some RI brides looking for special, personalized, and unique.
