Kristen and Mark are too cute and we’re so excited about their wedding. The sad news is we have to wait almost a whole year! I was happy to have these two up to the farm recently to have a fun engagement session with the last of the fall splendor. Their photographic guest book is off to the printer … maybe if you say “please” they’ll let you sneak a peak at it before their big day … or maybe they’re going to keep it a secret until the big day next October!

When I first met Mike and Stephanie to talk about their wedding we had to leave because the coffee spot we were at was closing – then we talked for another 45 minutes or so in the parking lot. But if you’ve worked with me already, you know this isn’t uncommon. There’s just so much to talk about! Weddings, babies, farming … there’s a lot to talk about!
It was no different with Mike and Stephanie. I love who we get to work with. It’s an honor and a pleasure – every time!
We met at Arrowhead Acres, where Stephanie and Mike will be tying the knot in August in the outdoor chapel. It will be interesting to see the summer version of this location after seeing the end-of-winter-with-some-snow-banks-still-hanging-on version Stephanie described some of the wedding plans … we’re in for a treat. I can’t wait!

It was cold on December 23rd in Boston! But that meant a little bit of snow – just like we wanted. We’d like to request a repeat for March 5th, Justin and Rachel’s wedding date!

These two are so incredibly sweet. It was hard to get them to stop looking at each other – but then when I heard they live over 3 hours from each other and had only been back together for a couple days and Rachel was leaving the next day … yeah, I got it. I’d have a hard time pulling my eyes from my spouse-to-be too!!

Michael and Arik Engagement Photography Church St. Burlington, VT

We’ve been counting the days to Michael and Arik’s engagement session in Vermont. Their enthusiasm for Vermont, their wedding, Brown Eyed Photography …. ahhh!
When Arik and Michael said they wanted their e-session on Church St. I was thrilled! And the bonus: they are getting married at the firehouse on Church St. before having a detail spectacular (no pressure guys!) reception on the Spirit of Ethan Allen!!!
So excited. If you want to catch up with these two and see how their wedding planning is going – go check out their blog! Oh right! But first – some of the fun we had in Burlington during their e-session.

And I had to do this next shot …. Michael was a resident on Josh’s floor his first year at St. Mike’s. Michael spent very little time on the floor – he was off in another building where he ended up being and Resident Assistant for the next two years – the second of which is when he met Arik. So during Michael’s first year somewhat and during his next couple years as an RA we knew each other as acquaintances. Fast forward to this August and I see Michael (and realize I should facebook friend him!) at Heidi and Brian’s wedding. There’s this other guy who seems nice at the wedding also and he and Michael seem to be getting along as they are both texting (I presume?) in a similar pose as below. I later learn that contrary to my assumption – Michael did not meet this sweet man at Heidi and Brian’s wedding – oh no – this is Michael’s boyfriend of 7 years (yes SEVEN!). So evidently joint texting was not new at the wedding they were at and we were at

Amiee and Troy e-session in the cold

They were shivering, I was shivering – but they don’t look to blue and the pictures look sharp so we all did the job we went out on this chilly November day to do. The day after the time change, no less! And in the end – it was great! Amiee and Troy are outgoing people who are fun to be around. They just just moved to RI – from Syracuse, NY -where I grew up! Loved getting to know them. I asked them to think about bringing along something that was so them to their session – scroll down to see what they brought and then go over the facebook fan page to throw your vote in for SU or UK. Don’t know what I’m talking about? It’s a little something I learned from Aimee and Troy … not being of the sporting persuasion in the least …. scroll down, scroll down – you’ll see!

Amiee said she and Troy are into basketball and he’s an SU fan (got that – living in Syracuse I don’t think you could miss the orange and blue no matter how disengaged from sports you are) and she was a UK fan (having lived in the UK I was confused until I learned that she is originally from Kentucky). When Pat and Kelly jumped at the chance to have a fall e-session in the Boston area I was all too excited to suggest the Arnold Arboretum. When I went with Alison and Russell I was amazed and overwhelmed by all of the options! When I went with Lesley and Alistair I couldn’t find the same spots I’d been to with Alison and Russell … everywhere I looked there was another great tree, flower, blade of grass … So yes, I couldn’t think of a better place to suggest for Kelly and Pat’s engagement session!

See? How could I resist?!?
And Arnold Arboretum+Kelly&Pat=everything good about fall!
We’re so excited about Kelly and Pat’s St. Mike’s wedding next summer. That’s right – another SMC alum! We missed knowing Kelly and Pat by a couple years – the funny thing is that they each lived on the same floor we did freshman year.

Pat is kind of quiet so I wasn’t sure how it would go over when I asked if they could dip.
Well! Their eyes lit up and the said they LOVE to dance and dipping, twirling, etc is all part of the dancing fun! As if we weren’t excited enough about their wedding!!!

Meghan and Scott e-session in Vermont for pretend

I’m excited about our move (have I said that yet?) and so it comes up in conversation. Often.
When I first met Meg and Scott a couple weeks ago – well, Vermont was brought up … by me, I think. It could have been Meg though. She said they LOVE Vermont and even considered getting married in Southern Vermont. For their e-session they wanted a Vermont “look” – red barn would be a fabulous bonus. Well, this was sad in a way because I could think of approximately 85 people I could ask in Northern Vermont about traipsing around their farm for the Vermont “look” including our own family farm …. but in Rhode Island my farm connections are minimal.
But then Meg suggested we meet at a reservoir and then drive down the road where some farms are and … well, I think we got the “look” and it’s a look I LOVE!

See? Awesome! And Meg and Scott are getting married at Five Bridge Inn – which we love love loved for Tracy and Eric’s wedding a couple months ago!! Now to patiently wait for almost a whole-entire-year for Meg and Scott’s wedding…

Magda and Matt

Magda and Matt are getting married in two short weeks! Their complete trust and devotion to each other is obvious after spending just moments with them. I can’t wait to document the day the celebrate their wedding vows. In the meantime I’m having fun going through their recent session and remembering how Magda said she is really a jeans and t-shirt girl. She definitely fooled me!

Announcement 1: In Spring 2011 Brown Eyed Photography is moving to Northern Vermont! We’re very excited. We’re moving to the family farm and I’ve been having so much fun discovering endless opportunities for portrait shoots at the farm.
There will be a transition period over the next year and we’re very much looking forward to our Vermont weddings AND our Southern New England weddings next year!

Announcement 2: Speaking of Vermont weddings: we’ve picked the “winners” for the free Vermont wedding we were offering. So fun reading the responses!
On July 9, 2011 we will be shooting Arik and Mike’s wedding and reception aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen on Lake Champlain! These two are pretty amazing. We are excited to work with them and I’m sure their 5,782* friends and family members will be excited too! We received overwhelming response about these two. We said that it didn’t matter how many nominations each couple got, but we didn’t count on one couple being nominated by sooo many people! Each note featuring Arik and Mike gave us a better picture of just how wonderful these men are.

We read things like:
