E-Session with Tracy and Eric at Capron Park

Tracy and Eric are fabulous and have the convenient skill of kissing on demand. Or maybe they are just both super cooperative so when photographer says “kiss” they kiss. Eric has a knack for taking a shot to the next level and coming up with a plan for what pose to do next. We would pick an awesome location (Capron Park is not short on options!) and I’d hear Eric say: “okay, first we’re going to look at Sarah, and then let’s kiss, and then…” and he mapped it all out and they rocked the shots and I made sure to snag them before the moment passed.

Eric’s pretty excited about this ring (rightly so!) and was sure to be on Tracy’s right side as much as possible to show off this stellar ring. I assured him that we’d break out the macro at their wedding and steal their rings for a little while.

The most exciting part?
Their wedding is in 39 days!!! Tracy says she doesn’t do well in the heat (and it was hot hot hot on Sunday during their session). I don’t know if I believe her but just in case we’re hoping for a somewhat cooler day.

Diane and Dan in Seekonk, MA

Diane and Dan had a very sweet small wedding with one of the most entertaining priests we’ve heard yet. I recognized several of the wedding guests as they came to the church and thought: “this is so fun to shoot a friend’s wedding, soon we’ll be shooting for people we don’t know, I’m sure!” Then I realized that I first met Dan and Diane at their wedding consult last fall! Another reminder that I have awesome clients and by the time we get to their wedding day I always feel like a friend. And it is always so rewarding to capture a friend’s special day!

Keeping my jealousy to myself as Dan and Diane relax in Mexico! Can’t wait to see you when you get back!!

Saint Michael’s College Wedding ~ Laura and Brian

Brian and Laura‘s wedding was so special for us for so many many reasons – so be warned, a little picture heavy, for sure!

We have a long history with Brian and Laura and share the general opinion with the rest of Brian and Laura’s friends that this wedding was a long time coming! This was a fun official kick off to our wedding season because we got to work a very familiar location and it also was a day before our 6 year anniversary (coincidentally about the time that Laura and Brian started dating).

Father Mike, one of our favorite priests, asked Brian and Laura to talk about why they chose to get married. Brian and Laura resisted public speaking but they rocked this part of the ceremony. It was so refreshing to hear the bride and groom speak more openly and personally right before their vows.

I thought I saw Father Mike give me a look. Apparently I’m just sensitive because at the reception he said: “Sarah! I saw Josh, but I didn’t see you! I’m so happy you’re here!” etc. etc. Evidently I was subtle enough at the chapel.

This was the part where Brian’s brother-in-law gave a speech where he said he’s known Brian ever since he started dating Brian’s wife about nine years ago… and didn’t understand why everyone started laughing. Note Ryan’s wife and son laughing it up. Ryan took a quick swig of his drink and continued his sweet speech.

and just for fun…. At every wedding we have fun shooting missed moments as guests are waiting for their food and enjoying the company of those at their table. Sometimes we get to tables after they’ve started eating (note the tell tale bulgy cheek on this adorable girl below- too cute to pass this picture over!). Generally these are just for the bride and groom and their guests to enjoy but as so many of the guests were personal friends – it’s fun to show off some of these. Note: Lou, director of res life at St. Mike’s (so Brian’s boss and has also been Laura’s boss, Josh’s boss, and my boss — at times all four of us at the same time!) in the bottom left corner was giving me a definite “Louism” look! I was expecting a: “hey, hey hey!” after he spotted be getting a shot of him.

So now this blog entry is very wordy and very picture heavy… must resist posting more!

Brian and Laura- we love you and are honored to have had such a special role on your wedding day. Can’t wait to see you both again soon!

Vermont Wedding Photography ~ Saint Michael’s College Wedding

We were so excited to have the opportunity to shoot not just any wedding – but Laura and Brian‘s wedding at our old stomping ground of Saint Michael’s College. We know the campus so well and loved thinking up fun things we could do off the beaten path as well as knowing which signage would show Brian and Laura’s reason for meeting before cruising off to The Essex for some fun with friends!

Lesley and Alistair e-session at Arnold Arboretum in Boston

There’s an interesting dance when deciding with clients where to meet for their session. I always ask in an email: “Are you thinking more nature-y (yes, official Brown Eyed Photography terminology) or urban?” I don’t even think I got that far when emailing Lesley! She had a list of ideas (Codman House, Pierce House, Drumlin Farm) which all look awesome but are all also options on her wedding day as she and Alistair are getting married in Lincoln, MA. In the end the couple decided on Arnold Arboretum in Boston for their e-session…. and I despite the anticipated nerve-wrecking drive (which lead to attempting to cajole someone else in to driving but turned out to be only minimally anxiety inducing) I was thrilled! This place is amazing with more perfect backdrops then we could possible use in our 2-hour session!

This was one of the first images we got. I was testing the water a little to see how much these two trusted me – the answer? A lot! The result: awesome shots! I think one of the best tests of a relationship is how comfortable the couple is with each other and in their own skin. These two were amazing. So relaxed, hanging out, enjoying the arboretum, and each other!

See what I mean about trust? I warned these two that I wasn’t sure how this would work but it might be fun to blow dandelion seeds at each other. This was a great game – especially (as you can see) when the seeds didn’t want to cooperate and blow off of their stems!

Love this, love them, can’t wait for their wedding! Have I said that already?

Emily and Dave e-session in Providence, RI

Emily and Dave met in Boston,
live in Texas,
and are tying the knot in Providence.
All that to say: Emily and I have emailed, talked on the phone, I’ve met her mom and her sister… and now finally I’ve met both her and Dave!
They managed to squeeze in an e-session in between their other important wedding related tasks that had to be accomplished while they were in Providence this weekend.

So fun… oh, and lots of kissing:

September can’t come soon enough! I can’t wait to see all the details of your long-distance-wedding-planning come together!

Sarah and Jon e-session at Castle Hill Inn in Newport, RI

There are some perks to working at Castle Hill in Newport.
There are also some perks to being a pastry chef, as Jon is. I probably don’t need to describe those.
Both Sarah and Jon went to culinary school in NYC – the same school… years apart.
They met at Castle Hill.
The chef life works for John, not so much for Sarah. So she’s planning a wedding, working full time, and going to school for dental hygeine full time.
Between all of that (to say nothing of Jon’s schedule) we managed to get a relaxing couple hours at Castle Hill (see, the perk!) for their e-session.

Diane and Dan on a perfect e-session day

Diane was very nervous about the weather but wanted to have their e-session as soon as possible. We picked a weekend and crossed our fingers. We lucked out and got a record-high warm day in March!

You both totally rocked the boardwalk… even stopping traffic!

I can’t wait for your wedding in just a few short months!

Amanda and Mike wedding planning speedy style

Amanda and Mike planned their wedding in a week and a half and it was perfect!
Bride and groom looked amazing, their home (yes, they even hosted their wedding at home!) was welcoming, and those that could attend were so completely supportive of these two.
I could go on for days about how comfortable Mike and Amanda are with each other and how hospitable they are. But really, it’s about pictures, not about hearing how great the bride and groom are, right? You can just see for yourself….
