Maternity Photography at Goddard State Park

Tricia and Paul met up with me on a drizzly (but thankfully not pouring) weather for their maternity session. Both of them are so laid back – Paul said his dad always says that even if the house was on fire Paul would amble out. I can’t imagine the transition to parenthood is going to change that

Can’t wait to see you both again – or all three of you – for your newborn session!

Torrential Rain at Prospect Park in Providence, RI

Sarah and Joe met when they were at camp … as kids. Now a million years later (don’t tell Sarah – she’s lamenting about “Black Tuesday” coming up this week -she’s going to be 3-0) they are loving married life. For them that includes running (they ran 13 miles!!! a couple hours before our shoot), runs to Seven Stars, and on Sarah’s part a commitment to RI that wasn’t necessarily an aspiration she dreamed of at summer camp. But Joe love love loves Rhode Island (like wants to get a tattoo of the state kind of loves RI!) and Sarah’s come to terms with that. After all, Rhode Island includes beaches and in summer, I’m told, that’s where Sarah spends every spare moment.

I know you can’t tell but it’s raining so hard in these last few pictures. Soaked, dripping, wiping water from eyes raining. Joe was concerned about his hair product but noticed that this meant Sarah’s dress was getting washed effortlessly!

Thank you both for enduring the soaking with me. Can’t wait to meet up with you to finish the shoot – with puppies next time!!

John and Kate plus 2 on vacation in MA!

John McGonigle has been the most compassionate, respectful, and personable doctor since our first appointment with him when baby #2, as she was known then, was still floating in the not so room quarters of my uterus. It soon came out that this friendly doctor has a family with two boys who are a little bit older than our two. I then was told that Kate McGonigle had a blog. I was hooked.
The whole family is dynamite! In more ways than one Photographing them at their family beach home …. the beach home John has been going since childhood…
Yeah, that was dynamite too! Look for the action shots at the end. I was tempted to put in Kate’s “action” shot where she showed off some funky dance moves, but resisted because she had bathing-suit-self-conscious-issues. Yeah, I don’t understand why either.

50th anniversary family photography

I was honored to be asked to come and photograph Michaela and her siblings while she is in town visiting. Michaela explained that she was the youngest (and only girl) of four. Her mom parents wanted an updated picture of the “kids”.
When I arrived at Michaela and sibling’s childhood home I was welcomed in to the excitement of Michaela’s parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration! The excitement and energy was contagious and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to capture the relationship not only between grown siblings but also individual families, the Whole Family, grandkids….. so much fun.

…and the two that started it all:

As I was heading out Michaela’s mom asked if we could do some pictures of cake cutting. She explained that they didn’t have a wedding and she’d really like to cut cake. Despite grandchildren protesting that it was before dinner – cake cutting and eating proceeded

I loved meeting all of you and can’t wait for you to see the rest of the pictures!

Beat the heat ~ Providence Family Photography

The lovely A contacted me to ask if we could arrange to do a family portrait session in their backyard… oh, and they live in Providence.
How much backyard can you have in Providence?
The answer: enough! The backyard is splendid and includes a resident bunny who is attracted to the overflowing vegetable garden. My favorite part might have been the black garage door though. And we fit all this in before the arrival of the heat that descended in full force this weekend!

I tell every family that I can’t wait to have an excuse to hang out with them and get to know them better. This family was another example of why I say that! I enjoyed spending the morning with this family from the slightly shy-momma lovin’ V to the kid snuggling-spider inspecting Dad!

Happy Fourth ’10

A day with family missing our brother who is off at bootcamp and making sure to eat an extra watermelon slice just for him! Hope your July Fourth is also fun and family filled!

These two have grown so much since last year! I really try and resist posting pictures of these two (despite the temptation!) but the cute factor combined with the opportunity to see how much they’ve changed (and how much they haven’t changed) was too much. Once a year it’s okay to succumb to the temptation…. at least that’s what I’m telling myself

E-Session with Tracy and Eric at Capron Park

Tracy and Eric are fabulous and have the convenient skill of kissing on demand. Or maybe they are just both super cooperative so when photographer says “kiss” they kiss. Eric has a knack for taking a shot to the next level and coming up with a plan for what pose to do next. We would pick an awesome location (Capron Park is not short on options!) and I’d hear Eric say: “okay, first we’re going to look at Sarah, and then let’s kiss, and then…” and he mapped it all out and they rocked the shots and I made sure to snag them before the moment passed.

Eric’s pretty excited about this ring (rightly so!) and was sure to be on Tracy’s right side as much as possible to show off this stellar ring. I assured him that we’d break out the macro at their wedding and steal their rings for a little while.

The most exciting part?
Their wedding is in 39 days!!! Tracy says she doesn’t do well in the heat (and it was hot hot hot on Sunday during their session). I don’t know if I believe her but just in case we’re hoping for a somewhat cooler day.

Saturday Morning Family Photography

I have found that relaxed no-rush photography sessions lead to some great times and often a budding friendship. I was so excited to learn that Sam and Mark won a Brown Eyed Photography portrait session at the East Side Nursery School silent auction at the end of March. I’ve seen Sam and Mark in passing several times but never at a time conducive to chit-chat. I knew their session would provide that… and I was not let down! Sam and Mark are authentic in their interactions and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to get to know them better.

Oh, and did I mention that their family includes three delicious daughters?!?

and after a brief stop to the equally delicious Three Sisters (ice cream, of course!):

Sam and Mark – I enjoyed every moment getting to know your family a little better. I’ll be on the look out for another excuse to hang out with you all soon!

Diane and Dan in Seekonk, MA

Diane and Dan had a very sweet small wedding with one of the most entertaining priests we’ve heard yet. I recognized several of the wedding guests as they came to the church and thought: “this is so fun to shoot a friend’s wedding, soon we’ll be shooting for people we don’t know, I’m sure!” Then I realized that I first met Dan and Diane at their wedding consult last fall! Another reminder that I have awesome clients and by the time we get to their wedding day I always feel like a friend. And it is always so rewarding to capture a friend’s special day!

Keeping my jealousy to myself as Dan and Diane relax in Mexico! Can’t wait to see you when you get back!!
