Hill and Hollow Music is located very nearby … in fact, it’s one of our nearest neighbors and a short walk away. We were thrilled when Angel, our neighbor and Hill and Hollow Music‘s passionate founder and organizer contacted us about a shoot with Alchemy Winds. Hill and Hollow Music offers retreats to musicians at their beautiful location (did I say it was near our house? 🙂 ) for musicians to complete a project. Alchemy Winds applied for an artists retreat and chose to use their time to record their first ever album. In conjunction with that, Alchemy Winds requested images incorporating the North Country scenery for the album cover. That’s where we came in. And I’m so glad we did.
Tia and Meghan are an incredible team. I knew this when Tia commented on what an awesome team we are as Brown Eyed Photography. They bounce ideas off each other, check in with each other, and generally like spending time together, clearly. And then I was invited to a small concert they had at Hill and Hollow Music. It was splendid. From a completely uninformed-around-classical-music opinion: the concert was stunning. It was fun and funny. I told Tia and Meghan it was like meeting two people who were quickly becoming my go-to hangout friends because they were A} friendly B}authentic and C} nearby (the most difficult accomplishment to achieve, I feel) and then I saw them in concert and they did these amazing things with these sticks – also known as a flute and an oboe, I learned. Such talent!
So if you happen to be in NYC or plan on going anytime soon – check out Alchemy Winds calendar and make a point to fit one of their concerts into your schedule. If you’re a classic novice like me – it will be more fun than you expect. And from what I gather from the comments that followed the concert from far more experienced listeners – even the experts appreciate this stunning duo. They have a facebook fan page too if you want to stalk them … as I have started doing.
Oh – and a bonus! – Alchemy Winds is happy to be hired for weddings. I asked. Because we attend weddings. A lot. And we love it. And the only thing that would make a wedding more special might be the inclusion of Alchemy Winds talent. So. That’s why I asked. So if you’re getting married – contact them. That’s my wedding advice for now.
Oh – but you really want to see the pictures now … so here are some more fun shares!
