Amy and Myles November Wedding

Amy is one of the sweetest women you’ll ever meet … and then you meet Myles who is even more soft spoken than Amy! Nygel, their son, is the one to ham it up and break the ice. At least, that was their engagement session.
On their wedding day it was clear that their e-session broke the ice completely! Or maybe it’s just that these two are so totally in love that all other worries disappeared on their day! The dress was beautiful, the cake divine, the dancing spectacular …. but nothing compared to the way Amy and Myles and the adorable Nygel glowed with happiness!

To be honest … I was a little nervous about the chilly factor for a mid-November wedding. 63degrees. That’s right. Couldn’t have been a better day!

Boston Common Band

You know, I know, we all know that I am not a dancing fan. If I feel like dancing … it’s time to leave the wedding.
And then there was Boston Common Band. I promise I left the wedding before I started dancing but it was soooo hard to resist (and there may have been some dancing on the way to the car…)!
Lesley and Alistair had a very sweet wedding and their crowd was much more interested in catching up with new and old friends than dancing. I’m with them! Ummm …. even with the tough crowd it wasn’t long before the dance floor was f.u.l.l! The energy, passion, and enthusiasm!! Awesome.

See one of the lead singers jumping and the crazy hair of the dancer in front of the band’s stage. Awesome.

I couldn’t get enough – so I’ve been listening to them on youtube – this is the latest video I watched.

Emily and Dave’s Wedding at the Providence Art Club

Emily and Dave had the most party-rific wedding ever! I think it’s common knowledge that Josh and I aren’t dancers (we only danced the required dances at our own wedding!) and I often say that when I start feeling the urge to dance when we’re at a wedding shooting…. that means the night is done.
Emily and Dave had a room full of dancers and I was ready to join in immediately following Emily and Dave’s first dance. Their dj, Sue, of Moondance Productions was thrilled because I would guess 85% of Emily and Dave’s wedding guests were dancing at any one time. And Emily’s mom? Oh wow! Can she dance!??!!
And this wedding set in urban Providence was wonderfully orchestrated by the skilled Jaime of Eventfully Planned. What a privilege to work with so much talent to say nothing of the fabulous Providence Art Club location, Emily and Dave’s adoration for each other, and their completely supportive family and friends!

When we got to the Art Club the door was locked! Took advantage of the moment to get Emily saying: “Let me in! I really DO want to get married!” Too funny.

Very cool to have an urban wedding. I love love having urban sessions – to have a whole wedding?!?! Bliss!

This is when Emily and Dave were completely adorable in their first dance moment. It was a really short first dance but well worth it with all of their guests joining in to sing Grow Old with You.

all about the wedding details

Tracy explained that she worked very very hard on the details of her wedding and that she would love pictures of all of that hard work in the details. Detail shots are one of my favorite things about a wedding so I was more than happy to anticipate lots of great detail opportunities (flip flops for dancing comfort, adorable seating chart with every name attached with a teeny-tiny clothespin, matching yellow handbags for the bridesmaids…). And then to my absolute pleasure the colors at the breath taking Five Bridge Inn! I was praising Tracy’s attention to detail all.day.long!!

Diane and Dan in Seekonk, MA

Diane and Dan had a very sweet small wedding with one of the most entertaining priests we’ve heard yet. I recognized several of the wedding guests as they came to the church and thought: “this is so fun to shoot a friend’s wedding, soon we’ll be shooting for people we don’t know, I’m sure!” Then I realized that I first met Dan and Diane at their wedding consult last fall! Another reminder that I have awesome clients and by the time we get to their wedding day I always feel like a friend. And it is always so rewarding to capture a friend’s special day!

Keeping my jealousy to myself as Dan and Diane relax in Mexico! Can’t wait to see you when you get back!!

Amanda and Mike wedding planning speedy style

Amanda and Mike planned their wedding in a week and a half and it was perfect!
Bride and groom looked amazing, their home (yes, they even hosted their wedding at home!) was welcoming, and those that could attend were so completely supportive of these two.
I could go on for days about how comfortable Mike and Amanda are with each other and how hospitable they are. But really, it’s about pictures, not about hearing how great the bride and groom are, right? You can just see for yourself….

It has been an incredible year.
Thank you all for contributing to the fun, the creativity, and the success of this year for Brown Eyed Photography.
I’m excited about next year and everything that is planned from seniors to weddings to babies and everything in between.
But right now I’m just sitting in wonder at all that happened this year.

And as an end-of-year tribute to the friends and faces of Brown Eyed Photography, here’s a slideshow we put together highlighting all the great people I was able to work with in 2009. What a beautiful bunch they are!

Thanks again everyone, and see you in 2010!

Ali and Russell at Fruitlands Museum, Harvard, MA

Ali explained, when she called that she is not photogenic and was really hesitant about her wedding being photographed. I quickly realized at Ali and Russell’s engagement session that while Ali is smart, confident, and engaging- she is way off on her assessment of how photogenic she is. At their wedding one of the girls getting ready with Ali in the bridal suite said: “You can’t take a bad photo of Ali” so I’m definitely not alone in my opinion that Ali most definitely IS photogenic.
Russell is sweet and caring and so completely all about Ali. It was an honor to see these two pledge to share their lives with each other.

Look at the bottom right hand picture. I overheard someone behind me say: “Grandma is going to be so tired but she’s having so much fun!” This woman had all the moves and was a much better dancer than I could ever hope to be!

Ali and Russell told me that the cookies were part of an Italian tradition. The couple brings around this huge pile o’ cookies to share with their guests. The cookies were so yummy! I think this is a tradition that should be part of every wedding!

It was very fun getting to hang out with this warm and thoughtful family.

Kristine and Barry’s Wedding at 1149 Restaurant

Kristine and Barry are two of the most easy-going couples I’ve ever met. They had an incredible wedding that took place at the yummy 1149 Restaurant in Warwick, RI.

These two planned to see each other before their ceremony. It was definitely the right choice for them- they both visibly relaxed when they finally saw their best friend.

Kristine and Barry had a very sweet ceremony with all their guests surrounding them as a show of support. I knew Kristine was feeling a little nervous when after she gave Barry his ring and the JP said: “Kristine, I give you this ring” and Kristine dutifully repeated: “Kristine, I give you this ring…” The JP advised Barry get used to this:) Hearty laughs all around!

Kristine is an art teacher and her creativity definitely shined in the details:
