If you’re looking for a beautiful location for your family photo shoot, John Brown Farm is a fabulous choice.
And if you’re looking for ideal a quintessential Adirondack Fall Farm location, this is my favorite go-to location in Lake Placid. The well-preserved barn, the small pond, the magnificent trees … so many options! This fall has been full of families coming to the Lake Placid area for vacations (a last long weekend or week to relax as a family before winter hibernation begins in the North Country) and deciding that it’s a perfect time to have a family photo shoot.
It was so fun to hang out with this awesome family from New Jersey. And credit goes to them for thinking of this lovely location. They were hoping for an old barn near Saranac Lake – Lake Placid … and then spotted this beautiful historic site while visiting the Olympic Ski Jump Complex.
When I asked the parents to kiss- I apparently wasn’t specific enough and the boys readily followed my suggestion. This is my favorite aspect of photographing families – capturing natural interactions between people that love each other day in and day out.
And siblings have such a unique …. love … we can call it love, right? These brothers were no different. Definitely up for wrestling and also the first in line to help each other out – catching a frog, or spotting tadpoles, or staying out of the water. I always strive to capture authentic moments – so when the boys’ mom pulled out a net she’d brought along …. the boys did their thing, and we got some awesome sibling photographs <3
When you mix a family with a beautiful natural setting … it’s bliss. I love finding gem locations like this – and then revisiting them throughout the year to find new pockets of beauty and embrace the change of seasons.
